Carly Rae Jepsen to record song for 'Little Mermaid' re-release
Carly Rae Jepsen is going "under the sea" for her next project. According to the "Huffington Post," the singer will record a new version of "Part Of Your World" for the upcoming "Diamond Edition" release of Disney's "The Little Mermaid."
A music video of Jepsen's performance of the classic tune will be included in the DVD re-release of the Oscar-winning 1989 animated film.
The original "Part Of Your World" was sung by voice-actress Jodi Benson, who played Ariel. Jepsen had been dropping hints about her involvement in the project on Instagram last week, posting a photo reading "Don't Be Such A Mermaid."
Once in a life time ore NOT! I don't know if I could do this....
You've got to hand it to John Mayer. He and his marketing team are friggin' geniuses. Rather than just release a lyric video with some groovy background designs for his new single, "Paper Doll," they've enlisted viral Internet sensation Joanna Rohrback, the woman behind the "Prancercize" fad, who does her thing to Mayer's new tune as the lyrics scroll.
If that wasn't enough of a pop culture convergence to make your head explode, get this: The song appears to be about Mayer's one-time girlfriend Taylor Swift, with the chorus, "You're like 22 girls in one / And none of them know what they're running from / Was it just too far to fall / For a little paper doll."
The song also references a "dress of gold and blue," like the one Taylor wore when she made a 2009 appearance on "The View," back when she and Mayer were still dating.
Of course, Taylor's latest single from her multi-platinum Red album is "22." That song opens with the lyrics, "It feels like a perfect night / To dress up like hipsters / And make fun of our exes." Later in the chorus, T-Swizzle croons, "Everything will be alright if we just keep dancing / Like we're 22."
Remember that the Swift-Mayer lyrical spat has been going on at least since 2010, when Taylor released "Dear John" on her album Speak Now. That song, which reportedly "humiliated" Mayer, contains the lyrics, "Dear John / I see it all now that you're gone / Don't you think I was too young / To be messed with / The girl in the dress / Cried the whole way home / I should've known."

Listen to Kanye West on iHeartRadio
The release of Kanye West's next album Yeezus is quickly approaching, as is the due date of his baby girl with Kim Kardashian, and in the midst of the crazyness, he sat down with the New York Times for a very interesting interview! In the interview, Kanye opens up about his new record coming out, his famous protest of Taylor Swift's VMA win over Beyonce in 2009, and of course his leading lady Kim Kardashian.
On his Taylor Swift VMA moment, he says, "Yeah, I think that I have like, faltered, you know, as a human. My message isn’t perfectly defined. I have, as a human being, fallen to peer pressure...I can answer that, but I’m — I’m just — not afraid, but I know that would be such a distraction. It’s such a strong thing, and people have such a strong feeling about it. 'Dark Fantasy' was my long, backhanded apology. You know how people give a backhanded compliment? It was a backhanded apology. It was like, all these raps, all these sonic acrobatics. I was like: “Let me show you guys what I can do, and please accept me back. You want to have me on your shelves.”
On his relationship with the reality star, he says, “Any woman that you’re in love with or that loves you is going to command a certain amount of, you know, energy. It’s actually easier to focus, in some ways…I’m the type of rock star that likes to have a girlfriend, you know? I’m the type of soul that likes to be in love and likes to be able to focus. And that inspires me.”
